About Us

Newcastle Hockey Association Limited was formed in 1985 with the purpose of establishing a centre of excellence for Newcastle field hockey players.  Newcastle International Hockey Centre Limited (name changed in 1991) has been in operation since 1989 and was established as a regional Hockey Centre in agreement with Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Maitland City Councils.

The centre received an initial grant to construct two water based artificial surfaces and has since constructed a third turf and ¾ size practice pitch and administration/amenities building as well as an association room with funds from the Newcastle Hockey players collected from turf fees, canteen and sports supplies sales and an art union.

Newcastle International Hockey Centre Limited is a limited company whose share holders are Newcastle Men’s Hockey Association Inc. and Newcastle District Women’s Hockey Association Inc.  Each association has 3 representatives and they are the Board of Directors of Newcastle International Hockey Centre.

The Board is responsible for the daily management of the centre, collection of turf fees, summer competitions, turf replacement, and maintenance of the centre. The associations are responsible for organising and managing winter competitions.
